“Girls” by Rita Ora dropped today after quite a bit of hype likening it to “Lady Marmalade” for a new generation. In this more British and more Tumblr-ready take on the “bisexual anthem” summer jam, Ora, Cardi B, Bebe Rexha & Charli XCX slay.

Is it the Lady Marmalade for a new generation? No. Sorry about it, but Ora is a noted Who at best. And the heavy hitter (fame-wise) here is the “Missy Elliot” of the group, Cardi B. So, I doubt it will have the cultural memory of

But, if we’re talking “Lady Marmalade” in the sense that it is high gay camp? I guess. OR, maybe it’s just a cross between “Bang Bang” and “Cool for the Summer“?
